Panagiotis Rappas
Animation director


Greek born animation director and art director, Panagiotis Rappas is a voting member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.
Among Panagiotis’ most notable accomplishments, he storyboarded, prepared and edited an animatic for the Oscar nominated animation short “The Periwig Maker” and has a long list of animation feature film credits on projects such as “1001 Nights” which co-produced for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, “An American Tale, Fievel Goes West”, “Rugrats in Paris”, “Space Jam”, “The Wild Thornberrys Movie” along with many, many more.

His animated children’s films, “The Boy and the Tree” and “The Mouse Who Wanted to Touch a Star” have won international recognition and received many awards from around the globe as well as his animated short “The Fountain of Youth”. In addition, he loves the theatre and has Stage Designed many plays plus has designed Illustrations for Children Books. Panagiotis continues to work as a freelance animation director on animated projects and television commercials for London’s West End and Athens Greece.

Born on the idyllic island of Hydra, a unique place on Earth with no automobiles, buses or bicycles, he was exposed to a world of brilliant colors that fed the imagination of an emerging artist. He studied painting, engraving and animation in Germany and began working in the animation industry, in Berlin, Munich, then on to London and Los Angeles. Panagiotis lives in Athens with his wife and son as he continues to make extraordinary impressions on the hearts and minds of young children around the world.
